About JPF iBRETA
In 2021, JPF identified the need for proper community awareness and preparedness against issues of public health, curiosity-driven education, and interdisciplinary research in biosciences in India. With a vision to contribute in these areas, in 2022, JPF launched its biosciences program, JPF iBRETA (initiative for Biosciences Research, Education, Training, and Awareness).

Research
To succeed in today's rapidly advancing scientific landscape, young researchers must possess a strong foundation in the fundamental principles of scientific investigation. With state-of-the-art technology and experimental platforms becoming increasingly available, it is essential to cultivate an investigative attitude among the next generation of biologists.
At JPF iBRETA Research, we are dedicated to fostering curiosity and developing critical thinking skills in young researchers. Our goal is to empower future leaders to address complex biological questions using cutting-edge technology and advanced experimental approaches.
Approach:
-
Journal club
-
Subject workshops under expert mentorship
-
Group discussions on frontier questions in biology
-
Short communications and presentations
Takeaway: To learn the nitty-gritties of research and communication.
Target audience: Young (20-25 years age) biological researchers
Education
The education curriculum for biology is currently limited to concept memorization, without sufficient emphasis on developing logical understanding. To truly grasp the complexities of biology, students must learn to approach problems with an investigative mindset that incorporates application-based problem-solving exercises.
At JPF iBRETA Education, our aim is to supplement traditional biology education by providing students with the tools they need to approach biological questions rationally and logically. We focus on developing scientific acumen, to enable students to tackle complex biological challenges.
Approach:
-
Workshops for school and college students
-
Booklets to learn biological concepts through DIY experiments
Takeaway:
-
Ability to ask questions
-
Design a way to approach question
-
To develop an excitement for exploration
Target audience: School students
Training
To enhance public health and well-being, it is crucial to equip individuals with knowledge about basic healthcare practices, hygiene, sanitation, and first aid.
At JPF iBRETA Training, we strive to bridge this gap by providing expert guidance and training to the public. Our aim is to empower individuals, families, and communities to manage and tackle important health issues, ultimately leading to a healthier and safer society.
Approach:
-
Short video courses
-
Informatic brochures
-
Hands-on training
-
Collaboration with healthcare institutions (hospitals and healthcare NGPs)
Takeaway: Developing self-sustained individuals capable of efficiently handling primary health issues to help reduce the burden on healthcare services.
Target audience: Communities of diverse socioeconomic status. (Rural and Urban population)
awareness
In today's fast-paced, internet-powered world, there is a growing divide between the scientific community and the general public. Misinterpretation of various biomedical facts by non-experts can lead to serious social and health issues. To bridge this knowledge gap, it is crucial to provide accurate and authentic medical and scientific information directly from experts to the general public.
At JPF iBRETA Awareness, our goal is to deliver carefully curated and scientifically accurate information by facilitating community interactions with field experts. We believe that creating awareness regarding different aspects of health and disease is essential for promoting the well-being of individuals and communities.
Approach:
-
Health Katta sessions
-
Magazine
Take-away: Informed awareness about important topics of public and individual health and disease.
Target audience: All age groups (some sessions will be age-group specific)
